HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Participants will learn how to deal with first aid emergencies that may occur in the workplace and in the general community. This course focusses on a range of trauma emergencies including choking and uncontrolled bleeding, and medical emergencies including anaphylaxis and heart attack and stroke. Participants will also learn what to do in the event of envenomation from a snake or spider bight.
Certification
Successful participants will receive the nationally recognised qualification including the units of competency;
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid.
- HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support.
- HLTAID009 Provide CPR.
Course Duration
This first aid course is comprised of two components;
- Completion of a pre-course reading and workbook, self paced learning (approx 4 hours).
- Face to face training and practical skills assessment (6 hours).
Qualifications are issued by Safety Training Solution RTO#40590.

Course Overview
Participants will learn the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response and to assist the casualty while waiting for the ambulance to arrive, in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This course is suitable for a range of workers within a variety of workplaces who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including heart attack and stroke emergencies.
This is the required course for most workplaces in Australai including public and private praimary and secondary schools.
