HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education & Care Setting - Childcare
Participants will learn how to deal with first aid emergencies that may occur in the education and childcare settings and the general community. This course focusses on first aid situations involving infants and children and is the required course for child care workers.
Certification
Sucessful participants will receive the nationally recognised qualification including the units of competency;
- HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting.
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid.
- HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support.
- HLTAID009 Provide CPR.
Qualifications are issued by Safety Training Solution RTO#40590.
Course Duration
This first aid course is comprised of two components;
- Completion of a pre-course reading and workbook, self paced learning (approx 4 hours).
- Face to face training and practical skills assessment (6 hours).

Course Overview
Participants will learn the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This course is suitable for a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.
